David Duriez & Manuel-M ‘9 Minutes Of Pure Madness EP’
Released: 5th May
When David Duriez decided to take some time out from the studio, little did he know that it would last years, but now he’s back in the studio with a vengeance, turning in EPs for Ovum, Something Different and, of course, here for Classic. David teams up with French newcomer Manuel-M, better known for producing mainly ambient music under his Irezumi moniker. This brand new partnership has now turned its hand to the tracky side of things, producing their first collaboration in just one night and it was, as the title suggests, pure madness; a blend of everything that went well that night. Satisfied with this good start, the pair produced another fresh track that same week and the result was ‘Go’, a pure groovy acid track in the Hardfloor style that Duriez loves so much.

So our good friend Allie Williams recommended this CD ages ago and it’s taken a while for us of get it of him… (or in this case not!) so we bought it ourselves. As fellow huge Derrick Carter fans it’s safe to say this is another excellent mix cd and takes it’s well deserved place in The Classic Mix CD Series. Cheers for the recommendation Ali, turn it up, and enjoy the mix.

Craig Williams, Charles I - This Is It (Original Mix)
Los Angeles based producers Craig Williams and Charles I bring us their first EP off Discobelle Records with three tracks that ooze dark techno deviousness.
Title and opening track “This Is It” is full of syrupy bass grooves and textured
FX to tease the last bursts of serotonin from a 6:00 AM crowd.
“Increase the Doses” plundering bassline and stabbing synth work creates a multi-textured fabric of sounds and is built for peak time warehouse parties.
Last but not least, “Work” is a heavyweight tech house cut, complete with shuffling snares rolling throughout and choppy strategically placed hypnotizing vocals.
This duo takes recognizable elements of electronic dance music and subtly transforms them into something new altogether, the result is more than the sum of its parts.

Habits of Hate EP [EE:V:003]
Habits of Hate is a collaboration between Happa and Manni Dee - Released 28th April
PR - UK / Europe - David Browne | email@example.com
Distribution via Kudos - Luke Owen | firstname.lastname@example.org
Rob Booth’s preternatural ability to cherry-pick the finest emerging talent in electronic music (see: Mount Kimbie, James Blake, Akkord) continues with EE:V:003 - a brutal pair-up of two of the UK’s most promising techno fiends under the menacing-sounding guise Habits of Hate.
Heroic young gun Happa and already-prolific producer Manni Dee are both quickly rising through the ranks of the UK techno scene with releases on labels like Boomkat Editions, Bleep’s Green Series, Perc Trax and Black Sun Records shared between them. Born out of swapping tunes and discovering a shared spirit of pushing dancefloors to previously uncharted limits, “Limelight Roles” takes a rigid, stomping pattern to its absolute breaking point and refuses to let up, calling to mind Regis’ most unrelenting tracks, whereas “A Rebel From the Waist Down” blends equal parts sub-crushing bass with corrosive mid-range textures. These two slabs of brutalist techno just might be both artists’ most gleefully punishing work to date, falling in line nicely with the recent output of other unhinged vanguards like Shifted, Perc and Untold.
Happa is Leeds-dwelling 16 year old Samir Alikhanizadeh whose early productions gained fervent support from luminaries like Zed Bias, Skream and Mary Anne Hobbs, quickly solidifying him as a bonafide prodigy and one to watch. His future looks just as exceptionally bright as his music is exceptionally dark.
Manni Dee is a futurist of sorts - an impeccable, razor-sharp tech genius and restlessly inventive producer who’s unafraid to tinker with the boundaries of sound and music, expertly walking the line between solid and abstract, carefully constructed and organic. Based in Brighton, he’s already released on some of the top underground dance labels and earned enthusiastic praise from peers and critics alike, from Blawan to Surgeon to Giles Peterson and more.

Artist: Bet.e & Stef / DJ Schwa & Cameron Cooper
Title: Compost Black Label #113
Cat No: CPT 444-1
Format: 10” / Digital

The Nicola Conte Dubstrumental is so great, a grower and real winner, the perfect old school nu school house vibe. Early support by Moodymann, Gilles Peterson, Rainer Trüby and the whole Compost crew. First 10inch on Compost Black Label !
Bet.e & Stef took the country by storm over a decade ago with their pop meets jazz, bossa-nova and latin stylings. Remarkably, they earned a Gold record in Canada with their self-released first album, “Jazz Bossa Nova”. A deal with Japan’s Toshiba-EMI soon followed, along with interest from every major record label in Canada. This JUNO-nominated duo from Montréal, Québec chose to partner with Universal Music Canada, achieving Platinum with their second album, “Day By Day.” Both milestones were even more remarkable given their global, multilingual sound was a far cry from the pop music du jour. Numerous sold-out performances at the Montreal International Jazz Festival earned them critical acclaim that took them beyond borders. Radio success in Québec, across Canada, and in Japan followed with their hit singles ”Day By Day” and ”It’s All Right” spending weeks at the top of the charts. In 2003, Bet.e and Stef began exploring solo careers, respectively releasing ”b.coming”’ and ”In From the Cold.”
Nicola Conte brings the track „Triste“ with his hypnotical, yet mystical deep approach to the dancefloors. His remix was already fascinating the likes of Matt Tolfrey, Mark Farina, Kruse & Nuernberg, DJ Spinna, Simbad and more!
Michal DJ Schwa is the man behind Beef records and electronic duo Shades Of Gray. Their debut album “Soul Machine” was critically acclaimed by the press receiving glowing reviews in DJ Mag and DeBug to name a few. Tracks from the album have been charted and played by some of the key players in the scene and also licensed for OM records, Defected and Clubstar compilations.
Cameron Cooper is a young producer from Sydney, Australia with a strong passion for Deep House and Dance music across the board. Breaking into the scene early 2013, having his remix selected by Joyce Muniz (BRAZIL, Exploited) on JackMode, a label with thousands of followers. The Australian producer puts all his thoughts on creating a deep and harmonic texture to all his tracks, with releases on Compost Black, Trojan House Records, Mystery Train, Something Different, PLAYNOW and many more.. For this producer, the future looks bright!
