The LP turns 64 Today. Kids Under 30 say, "What?" →
[If you play it backwards, it says “Napster’s Dead.”] Via Hogwild Records on Facebook. On this day 64 years ago Columbia Records began producing the Long-Playing (or LP) 33 1/3 RPM vinyl record. Florent: the man, the diner, the movie... →
Just caught this on PBS tonight. I only went to Florent a few times (usually after Passerby gigs around 2002), but they were all good times. The documentary does  nice job of connecting great, inspirational New York characters at pivotal points in the city’s creative and political history. http://florentmovie.com/ http://nymag.com/restaurants/features/47227/ ...

Prometheus: Intelligent Design Sometimes Not So...
Like the holographic founder of the corporation that bankrolls the Prometheus mission to meet one’s maker, Ridley Scott could be accused of desperately reaching for immortality in his later days by hanging his Alien ”prequel” on a script co-penned by a “Lost” writer who consistently raises deep questions without answering them. After all, selling ambiguity that...

Rumor: BuzzMedia Attempting to Purchase Spin →
[First XLR8R, and now?] According to Ad Age, the merger could help both brands: BuzzMedia has been increasing its focus on music lately, hiring its first general manager of music in January and buying the electronic music site XLR8R in May. Spin, meanwhile, has been trying to pivot from a primarily print operation to a more digitally focused brand.
